Cattle breeder of HERENS cows - Producer - Cheesemaker - Refiner - Farm sale.

The farm is mainly made up of small but stocky Herens cows, forged by and for the mountains. Several times a year, "queen fights" are organized in the region. This is how these cows define which one will be the Queen of the herd on the mountain pasture. Their milk is low in fat but rich in protein. The milking is done semi-artisanally on the farm, as well as the processing. Tommes, Tommettes, Croestin, Mountain Cheese (raclette style), milk, butter, cream, and sometimes serac is manufactured.
The eggs of our chickens, but also cold meats, sausages, and dried meat from Herens are also available. A lot of good things to delight the palates of those who love farm products.

Gestes pour l'environnement

Mountain farming and local production

The GAEC des Croës Canailles is a family-run business specializing in the breeding of Hérens cows, a breed perfectly adapted to the mountain environment. The milk produced on the farm is transformed directly into farmhouse cheeses, promoting short circuits and local production.

Preserving know-how and raising visitor awareness

The farm offers tours of the breeding, semi-hand milking and production of farm products. This approach helps to pass on traditional farming know-how and raise public awareness of mountain farming and local produce.

Promoting rural heritage

Through the breeding of Hérens cows and direct sales of its products, the GAEC des Croës Canailles contributes to maintaining local agricultural activity, preserving open landscapes and promoting the Giffre valley's rural heritage.
