We would like to draw your attention to the presence of guard dogs, also known as patous, in certain hiking areas.

Patous are increasingly present in mountain pastures to guard flocks of sheep or goats.

What are the best routes to cycle? 🚲
Whether you ride a road bike, a mountain bike or an electric bike, there are a number of marked trails that can be ridden independently or accompanied.

Where to fish in Samoëns? 🎣
There are two ways to fish in our area:

 

The municipal fishing permit, valid for the season from May to November and on sale at the Tourist Office, gives you access to:

– the upstream lake (small lake) of the Lacs aux Dames in Samoëns;

– the Lac Bleu in Morillon.

 

The departmental fishing permit, valid for a day, a week or a year, and on sale at the Tourist Office or on cartedepeche.fr, gives you access to:

– the downstream lake (big lake) of the Lacs aux Dames in Samoëns, for no-kill fishing only (the fish must be released);

rivers such as the Giffre;

mountain lakes.

If you wish to fish in all these areas, you will need to hold both a municipal fishing permit and a departmental fishing permit.

Where to go for a walk with your dog? 🐕
Hiking with your dog is a great activity to share with your dog. Here’s an outdoor activity suitable for everyone and free!

For the journey, pack a gamelle and water as well as a longe and a harness.

 

Dogs are prohibited in the largest nature reserve in Haute Savoie: the Sixt-Passy Nature Reserve, so as not to disturb the wildlife.

But rest assured, they are allowed kept on a lead at the Base de Loisirs and other hikes, climbs, access to refuges are also possible from June.

 

As for the patous on your path, remain vigilant, the latter are defending their herd, more information by clicking here.

In order to have a pleasant stay, some hosting and restaurants accept our four-legged companions.

 

Cleaning point: you will find dog poop bags at the following locations:

Avenue Cognacq-Jaÿ, Place des 7 Monts / Square, Place du Criou, Rue des billets, GME, Place du marché, Piscine municipale, Camping Le Giffre, Parking du Veau Gras.

How to come to Samoëns by public transport? 🚍

You can reach Samoëns by coach from Cluses train station (Line Y94) and from Annemasse (Line Y02), operated by the Jacquets company.

To get around the valley, the Taninges Community of Communes offers summer shuttle services at €2 per day.
Children under 6 accompanied by an adult ride for free.

 A 10-day pass for €10 is also available at local tourist offices and directly from the driver.

Where to park when you are a camper? 🏕️
If you are travelling by camper van, specific service points and camper van parks are available on the territory.
