♻️ Waste Management

Nature is precious — let’s protect it every day

Every action counts when it comes to reducing our environmental impact. In the mountains, waste takes even longer to decompose, so it’s important to stay mindful.

👉 Good habits to adopt:

  • 🚯 Leave no trace
Always take your rubbish with you, even small items such as tissues, cigarette butts, and wrappers
  • ♻️ Use recycling points
Recycling facilities are available throughout the area — remember to separate your waste properly to support recycling efforts
  • 🌿 Compost food waste
Fruit and vegetable peelings, leftover food… choose composting whenever possible
  • 🚛 Use the local recycling centre if needed
For bulky or specific waste items, please use the appropriate waste disposal facilities

❄️ Ski Smart

Make the most of your access to the slopes according to your skiing profile:

  • Beginners and ski lessons: access the alpine ski area directly via the Grand Massif Express gondola. The beginner area and ski school meeting points are located at the top station of the gondola.
  • Experienced alpine skiers: save time and avoid queues by taking the 10-seater Vercland gondola — an ideal alternative to the Grand Massif Express.
  • Cross-country skiers and snowshoe walkers: use the Joux Plane shuttle service to reach the Col de Joux Plane (1,700 m altitude), and the Y94 bus service to access the Cirque du Fer-à-Cheval (1,100 m altitude).

Plan your return to the village

To make the most of the end of your day on the slopes and avoid queues at the lifts, we recommend starting your return journey to the village before 3 pm. Heading back earlier helps ensure smoother journeys and a more relaxed end to your ski day. Sometimes, just one hour can make all the difference!

🤓 Did you know?

Even though Flaine may seem close by, it can still take around one hour to return to Samoëns Village on skis.

✨ Sometimes, good timing makes all the difference!

🚌 Responsible Travel

Fewer cars means less impact on our environment

Reducing car use helps preserve air quality and limits disturbance in the mountains.

👉 What to prioritise:

⚠️ Mountain Safety & Risk Prevention

The mountains require preparation — even in winter

To make the most of your stay, safety should always come first.

👉 Essential precautions to remember:

  • 🔥 No open fires & beware of cigarette butts
The risk of wildfire is real — never throw cigarette ends into nature
  • 🌦️ Check the weather forecast before setting off
Mountain conditions can change very quickly
  • 🧭 Plan ahead: equipment, route & emergency preparation
Make sure you have suitable equipment, plan your itinerary carefully, and let someone know where you are going in case of emergency
