The Col de Joux Plane is part of the history of the Tour de France, having been climbed 12 times since 1978. To mark the Adopte 1 Col event, Joux Plane will be closed to traffic by departmental decree, so cyclists will be able to enjoy one of the most demanding climbs in Haute-Savoie: 13.3km with an average gradient of over 7.5% and sections with gradients of over 11%. A refreshment area will be available at the summit before you descend to enjoy the exceptional views of the Haut-Giffre.
Sunday 3 August: Passage of the women’s Tour de France
The start is in Vannes on Saturday July 26, with stages in Angers, Poitiers and Clermont-Ferrand before the runners reach Savoie. They will conclude their journey in Haute-Savoie.
The final stage will take place on Sunday August 4, 2024, between Praz-sur-Arly and Châtel-Les Portes du Soleil. Like last year, this mountainous stage promises to shake up the standings.
Athletes will pass through Megève, Combloux, and Sallanches, climb the côte d’Arâches-la-Frasse (6.2 km at 7.1%), then tackle the Col de Joux-Plane (11.6 km at 8.5%) after passing through Châtillon-sur-Cluses, Morillon, and Samoëns.

In the afternoon, they will be presenting all the alpine disciplines that can be practised in Samoëns and the surrounding area: climbing, slacklining, abseiling, climbing the treetop pole, AEM (accompagnateur en moyenne montagne) activities (treasure hunts, introduction to knots, etc.). Workshops and film screenings on the mountains are also on the programme.
