The maintenance of municipal verges and ditches is one of the regular tasks of the Municipal Technical Center. This work is essential, particularly on the Route des Mouilles and on all the communal roads overlooking Samoëns. Weather variations weaken the soil: drought on the one hand, excess water on the other, reducing the soil's natural capacity to absorb water.
To remedy the situation, the road team worked along the entire length of the shoulder. A mini-excavator, a loading truck and manual shovels were used to dig and restore the ditch to its original width and depth. Heavy, stagnant deposits were removed to allow the water to flow through to the gully gratings.
Thanks to this clean-up, ditches and verges are now back to full efficiency. The next stages may involve repairing some of the manholes and gully gratings: a major project to come.
