Friday 21 August 2026 from 11 am.
Join us at the head of the Saix for the blessing of the Bérard Cross. A time of fellowship over a shared bowl of soup.
A bit of history: This cross was erected at the head of Les Saix in memory of Jean Bérard (1895–1934), a skier from Geneva who died in an accident after being swept away by an avalanche in this area.
The current oak cross, standing 3.80 m tall, was rebuilt by a group of friends in the fall of 2025.
Father Jean Damascène NIYIBAHO will bless the cross starting at 11:00 a.m.
A country-style soup will be provided by the organizers; please be sure to bring your own bowl and spoon. Lunch will be a potluck (please bring your own picnic).
To ensure the event runs smoothly (and to estimate the amount of soup needed), registration at the Samoëns Tourist Office is required. Please register by email at infos@samoens.com or in person at the tourist office.
