Let's discover an old 19th-century farmhouse in the heart of nature, on the slopes of the Giffre mountains. Here you'll discover the traditional life of yesteryear.
Born of the desire to revive this traditional farmhouse dating from 1815, the Clos Parchet Ecomuseum opened its doors in 1994 and welcomes the public with guided tours.
These tours are offered by the Guides du Patrimoine Savoie Mont Blanc, and include activities around the bread oven during the summer months. The tour ends with a convivial tasting of regional products.
This farmhouse is listed on the "Inventaire Supplémentaire des Monuments Historiques". It has been restored and furnished "à l'ancienne" to bring back the spirit of the 19th century. Stroll through the kitchen (la cuzna), main room (le pèle), stables, hay barn and outbuildings (bread oven, attic and shed). An inventoried collection of over 2,000 utensils illustrates the work in the fields and old trades specific to the upper Giffre valley: agro-pastoralism, traditional crops, wood and stone working, etc...
This farmhouse, situated at an altitude of 1000 m on the southern slopes of Samoëns, is a testimony to the seasonal movement of the family. Over time, it has evolved from a temporary "mayeu" to a permanent dwelling. Finally abandoned, its pasture environment will be safeguarded and enhanced.

Opened in 1994 by Simone and Pierre Déchavassine, the ecomuseum invites you to go back in time... With the Guides du Patrimoine Savoie Mont Blanc (GPSMB), discover the history and life of the Haut-Giffre in the Clos Parchet farmhouse dating from 1815, in harmony with nature and the seasons.
The Clos Parchet Ecomuseum transmits the memory of a traditional way of life that was respectful of its environment, where nothing was wasted and where families were self-sufficient in terms of food (animal husbandry, cultivation of cereals and vegetable gardens) and materials (manufacture of all necessary objects from wood, repair of objects, absence of consumerism)
