This hike to the alpine pastures and chalets of Salvadon starts from the hamlet of Le Crot, near Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval. The forest path climbs steadily, offering superb views of the Fiz chain, Dent de Véreux and Pointe Rousse.
As you move forward, you enter the Sixt-Passy nature reserve. At an altitude of 1,715 metres, the chalets form a picturesque hamlet nestled at the foot of the Avoudrues, Pointe de Bellegarde and Pointe
de Sambet. These mountain pastures are still farmed today.
After your hike, don't miss a visit to Ferme des Tines, in Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval. Here you can discover and buy local products, including "Salvadon", an alpine cheese made on the mountain pastures.
Whatever your hike, remember to pack cereal bars, plenty of water, sunglasses, sunscreen, a small first-aid kit, and clothing appropriate to the season and weather forecast.
1/ From "Le Crot", head towards "Chalets de Salvadon". Continue in this direction, passing through "Bellecombe", "Les Miches" and "Croix à Augustin".
2/ Once at the Chalets de Salvadons, return to "Le Crot" via the same route as the outward journey.
