How about a dog sled race? This winter, Samoëns welcomes you to live the polar experience in the village, transformed for the occasion into the Grande Odysée Savoie Mont Blanc village, and to take part in the opening ceremony of this mythical sled dog race. Created in 2005, La Grande Odyssée Savoie Mont-Blanc is the annual sled dog event in Europe. You will be able to discover the universe of this discipline which makes us all dream, the 68 mushers and their 600 dog-athletes. On the programme for these two crazy days? Free entertainment and festivities throughout the afternoon for young and old.
Practical info: Prologue at the Lacs aux Dames leisure centre on Saturday 8 January 2022. Montagnes du Giffre-Grand Massif stage on Sunday 9th January on the Grand Massif (Morillon, Samoëns).
Shuttles will be set up to facilitate the link between the village and the start area as well as the link with the finish area.

The Telemark World Cup is stopping in Samoëns with the best athletes in the world for classic and sprint events. Telemark skiing is one of the oldest skiing techniques invented at the end of the 19th century in Norway and is situated between Alpine and Nordic skiing. It is a sport that combines technicality and elegance with its free heel technique that allows for harmonious turns. The hosting of this world competition finds all its place and takes all its meaning within the Haute-Savoie village of Samoëns.
Practical information: Accessible by cable car and then on foot for non-skiers.

For the 3rd edition of the Open de nage en eau glacée, the French Swimming Federation and the village of Samoëns invite you to the Lac aux Dames leisure centre from 27 to 30 January 2022. A totally icy programme awaits you: 500m NL, 200m breaststroke, 50m NL, 50m breaststroke, mixed relay … Come and encourage the greatest athletes during these three days of timeless events. Please note that the water temperature is below 5°C and that wetsuits are not allowed…

Things are moving in Samoëns! The 3rd edition of the Criou blues and rock festival will be held from March 31st to April 2nd 2022 at the espace le bois aux Dames and in the bars in Samoëns.
One more reason to come and discover this beautiful French village, elected Mon Plus Beau Village de Haute-Savoie in 2021. A music festival where French and international blues and rock bands will perform to offer you 3 days of unforgettable concerts.

Mountain bike lovers, this festival is for you! From the 3rd to the 5th of June 2022, the Vélo Vert Festival will be held in Samoëns. Animations, tests, races and hikes, a 100% mountain bike weekend for bike and mountain lovers. In a friendly atmosphere, the event will welcome, on a new playground favourable to all types of practices, enduro, cross-country, electric mountain bike, sport or family events. We are waiting for you!
Around the emblematic alpine garden La Jaÿsinia, one of the most beautiful alpine botanical gardens in France, and its 4,800 plants from the mountains of the world, Samoëns organises the Botanical Days for all lovers of flora, both local and distant. A place conducive to escape and wonder in the middle of an exceptional natural environment! On the occasion of the 13th Botanical Days, children and adults will be able to enjoy a unique sensory experience in the midst of the 2,500 species of mountain plants present in this garden.
The visit of the botanical garden which will reveal all its secrets, and numerous activities which will take place during 2 days in Samoëns such as the meeting with bees, a film projection on insects, workshops to learn how to garden with invertebrates or even storytelling walks to discover the patrimonial wealth of Samoëns.

Since the first edition, the sporting event organised by Samoëns Trail événements has continued to grow. This makes it one of the biggest and most beautiful mountain races in the valley! In only 8 editions, the Ultra Trail du Haut-Giffre has become an unmissable event in the world of mountain races with some 2,000 participants each year. With 8 races on offer, from the mini cross-country race for children, through the “au fil du Giffre” race (9km), to the Ultra Trail du Haut-Giffre (96km) and the Ultra Tour des Lacs des Cimes (124km), lovers of mountains and running will be able to discover the mountains in a sporting way in an exceptional natural setting!
Whether you come for the competition or simply for the pleasure, the Ultra-Trail® du Haut-Giffre, with its refreshment stops, will allow you to discover or rediscover the routes embracing our valley. Dirt paths, stone paths, tinted with green, a great breath of air for an unparalleled event.
