The Reading Nights, organised since 2022 by the National Book Centre (CNL), return from 19 to 22 January 2023, on the theme of FEAR.

Over the course of four nights, thousands of events will be scheduled throughout France and beyond.

The Reading Nights are an opportunity to offer meetings and events in libraries, bookshops, but also in schools, museums, cultural and artistic venues, community and solidarity centres, prisons and French institutes, thus reaffirming the essential place of books and reading for everyone.

The Samoëns media library and the Criou livres association are organising four evenings as part of the Reading Nights from 17 to 22 January 2023, on the theme of FEAR:

- Tuesday 17 January at 6pm at the media library:
A writing workshop on the theme of fear for adults, proposed by the association Criou livres. Open to all.
- Thursday 19 January at 5.30pm:
Readings for the toddlers of the Les Loupiots crèche at the nursery.
- Friday 20 January from 5pm:
A " Reading Challenge " organised in partnership with the teachers of the schools of Samoëns
5pm-5.30pm: Valérie Courtois' CE1-CE2 class prepare readings of albums on the theme of fear. The pupils are invited to come and read these albums in the media library for the kindergarten children accompanied by their parents.
18h-19h: the pupils of Brigitte Mathieu's CM1 class (public school) and Cécile Morel's CM1-CM2 class (public school) have also prepared readings on the theme of fear.
The volunteers are invited to come and read in public at the media library. Parents are invited!
After that, the children will surely need to quench their thirst... An aperitif offered by the association Criou livres will be served after these readings, for a moment of convivial exchange.

- Saturday 21 January from 6.30pm:
An evening of reading aloud for all audiences from 12 years old:
6.30 pm reading workshop: warm-up and preparation for the public reading that will follow. Open to all, it is possible to bring your own text.
7.30 pm: aperitif with a Canadian buffet. The Criou livres association provides the drinks, everyone is invited to bring something to eat.
8-9pm: public reading with musical interludes on the piano by Digby.
