High-altitude hiking

In summer or winter, the high mountains are waiting, just for you

Alpine hiking, crossing ridges, huge walls of rock, ice climbing school, trekking, skiing trips, snowshoes, and frozen waterfalls, around Samoëns and in the mountain ranges nearby. A world apart, a landscape of snow and rock, silence and infinite mystery, the high mountains are waiting just for you. From climbs for beginners suitable for all, to hiking across high ridges, we can share that world together. The Guides' Office will be only too delighted to organised hiking routes especially for you. High altitude hiking in the Upper Giffre massif. As the only range in the French Pre-alps with glaciers, the Upper Giffre Massif has unique characteristics. Hanging above the depths of the Fer à Cheval cwm, the ice-covered slopes lead to very isolated summits. The Grand Ruan (3,040 m) and the Tenneverge (2,989 m) are the highest peaks. We invite you to share our enthusiasm and follow the tracks taken by smugglers, chamois hunters, and Jacques Balmat, who died on the Prazon glacier. On the superb frozen waterfalls of the Fer à Cheval, the limestone cliffs in the region and all the prestigious summits of the Alps and elsewhere in the world, we can help you to explore the magic surroundings of the mountains. High-altitude climbing in the Mont Blanc range: Mont Blanc (4,810 m), the highest peak in the Alps and in Europe, provides visitors with one of the finest climbs anywhere.
To enable you to take full advantage of the possibilities, we have put together a five-day course. Two preliminary climbs help you to get fit physically and acclimatise to high altitudes. You'll then probably be able to climb Mont Blanc in the best possible conditions and make the most of a very special, unforgettable moment.
