The Grand Massif is a paradise for walking: walks along the valley floor, following the banks of the Giffre, half-day walks to meet local people and find out about their ways of life and their traditions, walks to find out about fauna and flora, initiation to traditional uses of plants (edible 
plants and healing plants), etc.
With "Edisud", the Upper Giffre Valley Association (Samoëns, Morillon, Sixt Fer à Cheval, and Verchaix) has published a guide book bringing together a number of routes, including about twenty that are accessible for all, and take from one hour to three-and-a-half hours (routes 1 to 19). The book helps you to discover our greatest, finest treasure: our natural open spaces, and our living and historical heritage, for your pleasure, and for that of future generations. The Inter-locality Association to Study and Develop the Grand Massif (SIEAGM - Samoëns, Morillon, Sixt Fer à Cheval, Arâches, Magland and Passy) has published a map of walking and hiking routes. Available from the shops in Samoëns : €7.

Managed by the international association for the Tour of the Dents Blanches (AITDB), this 6-day Franco-Swiss tour takes you on a splendid mountain route that can be very hospitable at times, e.g. on the way through the mountain pastures in Barme (Switzerland), or very wild as it is in the Ottants pass.
