Canoeing

An ideal craft in which to learn about river running techniques.

After a briefing on navigation and safety techniques, and accompanied by a guide, you learn to control your craft as you go along, thanks to its stability and manoeuvrability, and you discover the pleasures of navigation in twos. It's up to you to keep things under control! We organise runs mainly on the Giffre between Sixt and Samoens, on a shorter course that avoids going though the Gorges. Once you have acquired some experience, you can go on a trip through the Gorges if you feel like it. Here's a tip: Take care when choosing your teammate!

A very likeable hybrid! A halfway house between a raft and a canoe, this two-seater inflatable craft is easy to handle but unstable, and both canoeists have to work together to ensure that they don't capsize and end up in the water. The craft is inflatable and wider than a canoe, maing it more stable and able to absorb impacts against rocks. What is more, it is self-emptying. A guide accompanies you in another craft. The activity enables you to read the river, and learn about water movements and currents. You also learn how to steer your craft. We see it as an ideal craft for people who have already gone rafting.

Trips in inflatable canoes.

Rendezvous at our base for a trip in an inflatable canoe. You will be directing the movement of your own craft, so your instructor explains all the manoeuvres. Each stop provides an opportunity for fresh advice. We take the time to suggest exercises, to make sure that your trip really goes off well. Although you may not be a champion by the end of your trip, you will have learned a lot, and your satisfaction at having mastered your trip will be seen in your eyes. We make every effort to be real teachers and take the time you need in a session to ensure that you make the most of your adventures!

Our team of qualified instructors will make every effort to help you to discover or rediscover the pleasures of white water water sports and experience some exceptional thrills, while providing efficient supervision and ensuring maximum safety. We can organise a wide range of runs on the rivers in our region:
- The source of the Giffre is in the majestic cirque de Sixt Fer à Cheval. The river flows through the very impressive Tines gorges. A pleasant trip, ideal for beginners. 12 km.
- The Dranses, a "sports" river, features many rapids with smooth stretches of water between them. The big rocks in the river make it one of the finest rivers in France. There are several trips depending on the water levels and the canoeists' levels of skill. Considerable amounts of water in the spring for more intense thrills. 20 km
- The Fier and the Chéran: near Annecy, these two picturesque rivers flow through magnificent gorges of rare beauty. 20 km
- The Isère: as the site of the world canoe and kayak championships, the Isère has all the attractiveness of a sports river - it's long, with varied levels of difficulty and set in unspoilt surroundings. 24 km.
- The lightning fast Doron de Bozet carries you along its tumultuous course at a cracking pace from Bride les Bains to Moutiers. 6 km.
