The Cirque du Fer à Cheval

Cirque du Fer à Cheval

The major tourist attraction in the Upper Giffre Valley

A splendid semicircle with walls 500 to 700 m high, and summits that reach 3,000 m. The second largest mountain cwm in France, the Cirque du Fer à Cheval provides magnificent views all year round: there are lots of waterfalls when the snow melts. It is one of the 25 listed famous sites in France, like Gavarnie, the Pointe du Raz, the Pont du Gard or Mont Saint-Michel. The high walls make the site a paradise for hikers.
